Carla McBeath

Not only was the author considered a gifted child, but she was also one who asked difficult questions. She also found that, while earning a BFA in sculpture from California College of the Arts (Then California College of Arts and Crafts), she missed something. She missed asking questions. She missed writing. Carla went on to study law, in which the art of asking questions was primary, and then started writing professionally, for legal-medical journals and a monthly magazine. During her life, Carla accumulated data by observation, and her questioning mind never stopped looking for the reasons behind everything. Her first published book, How to Find and Love Your Small Space, Outfit Your Small Gourmet Kitchen, Furnish Your Amazing Space with Wellness Colors and Store All Your Stuff (Small Space Life Publishing, New York, May 25, 2021) was the culmination of Carla’s time in New York. After moving from California to New York in 1995, she started asking why apartments were becoming more and more unaffordable for the average tenant, and found she could help alleviate this trend, by illustrating a simple truth: it is possible to live well, very well, in a studio apartment.

Carla’s second book, Your Will and Your Win: Rescuing Your Human Will From Popular Culture and Finding Your Win, arose out of a period of time when Carla noticed the increasing influence of poorly written online articles with mediocre and biased content. She then investigated, and found a deeper, more insidious, objective. The result was her second book.

Carla continues to live in New York with her husband. Other than writing, Carla loves baroque music and making things with her hands, such as crocheting and cooking. She is planning a third book, based on the research in her second book, and is working on translations of her second book, so that it will be available globally. She is also working on an anthology of her short stories written over the years and her newsletter, tentatively titled “Understand This?”
